Amsterdam Plantage Boat Tour

“The Eastern Plantation Boat Adventure”

On this relaxed and pleasant boat tour we take you on a canal cruise through the tranquil Plantage area, which is located to the east of the city centre. This elegant neighbourhood is a refreshingly green and unique district where city and nature consistently cross each other’s paths. As the Plantage district was build on swamp land, like most of Amsterdam, there are many cosy canals that we’ll be able to explore on this private boat tour.

We’ll pick you up at the public boat docking at Oosterdok kade and then cruise around the Nemo science museum and admire this wicked piece of modern architecture, then we sail by the Maritime museum and get up close to see the amazing replica of an old VOC ship. Afterwards we’ll cruise towards De Gooyer windmill and the IJ Brewery and then we continue down the Mauritskade where the ‘Tropenmuseum’ (Museum of the Tropics) is housed in one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful and largest historic buildings. We then reach the Amstel River and will be passing through the Amstel locks before heading into the very centre of the Plantage district. Here we’ll show you one of our favourite parts of Amsterdam and cruise around the Artis Zoo with its unique surroundings on both sides with green areas, stunning old warehouse and perhaps even see a zebra or gazelle staring back at us from Artis. As we continue along the Nieuwe Herengracht towards the Amstel river we’ll pass the small but beautiful Wertheimpark, the Hortus Botanical gardens and the Hermitage, a 17th century historical building. On our way back we’ll sail around the Waterlooplein flea market and along the Oudeschans where the last highlight is the Montelbaanstoren an impressive old defence tower from 1516.

The Plantage is an extraordinary place to explore and enjoy and we hope to welcome you on this fantastic private boat tour.
